Parts best ordered from Swisco.
- Windows use 530C balance pivots, with Swisco direct replacement P/N 15-046
- Swisco Red Capped series 600 balances are the closest direct replacement for these windows
- Pivot pins are 3/4 wide, and 2 1/8 long. Unknown make currently. Could be 26-425
Balance Sizes
Measure only the length of the outer tube (excluding the protruding tip/pin), measure the outer diameter straight across, and note the color of the plastic bushing or tip at the end.This video demonstrates how to safely remove and measure a spiral window balance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nK3fJGu21M
N.B: You do not necessarily have to remove the balances to measure
Window balance replacement checklist
- Remove both sashes from all large windows in main
- Scrub out tracks around window, remove all hardware, balances, balance pivots
- Examine sash, determine if repairs are needed. Replace weatherstripping on sash
- Reinstall balances, balance pivots
- Reinstall sashes and check for motion
- Clean glass, install screens. Cleaning is duty of janitorial team
